TheYardMap provides a platform for discovery and communication. We do not arrange meetings, supervise sales, verify users, inspect items, guarantee transactions, or provide security services.

Every user is responsible for their own safety, decisions, property, and interactions.

All users should:

If you create a garage sale listing on TheYardMap, you understand that publishing your sale location may result in visitors arriving at that location during the advertised sale hours.

Visitors attending sales found through TheYardMap should:

• Respect the property owner's rules.
• Visit only during advertised sale hours.
• Stay within public sale areas.
• Ask permission before entering restricted areas.
• Avoid touching items without permission.
• Treat hosts and neighbors respectfully.

Visitors should never:

• Enter a property without permission;
• Force access to areas that are closed;
• Harass or threaten a seller;
• Attempt to purchase prohibited items.

Users may communicate before attending a sale.

We recommend:

• Keeping conversations respectful;
• Avoiding sharing unnecessary personal information;
• Being cautious with unusual requests;
• Trusting your instincts.

If communication becomes threatening, inappropriate, or suspicious, stop communicating and report the user.

TheYardMap is an adults-only platform.

Users must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use TheYardMap.

Children should not:

• Create accounts;
• Communicate through the platform;
• Attend sales without appropriate adult supervision.

Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising minors who may attend public garage sales.

TheYardMap strictly prohibits the listing, promotion, exchange, or sale of dangerous or illegal items, including:

• Firearms;
• Weapons;
• Ammunition;
• Explosives;
• Illegal drugs;
• Controlled substances;
• Hazardous chemicals;
• Toxic materials;
• Stolen property;
• Counterfeit goods;
• Illegal products;
• Any item prohibited by law.

Users should immediately report suspicious listings.

Users should protect their personal information.

Do not publicly share:

• Passwords;
• Financial information;
• Government identification numbers;
• Private documents;
• Security details;
• Sensitive personal information.

When creating listings, only share information necessary for visitors to attend your sale.

Users should be cautious of:

• Fake listings;
• Unrealistic offers;
• Requests for payment before meeting;
• Requests for personal information;
• Suspicious links;
• Attempts to move conversations outside the platform for questionable reasons.

Never provide financial information to unknown individuals.

If something seems suspicious, stop communication and report it.

TheYardMap does not process or guarantee transactions between users.

Users are responsible for deciding:

• Whether to buy or sell an item;
• Payment methods;
• Item inspection;
• Final agreements.

Recommended practices:

• Inspect items before purchasing.
• Agree on prices clearly.
• Use secure payment methods.
• Avoid sending money before seeing an item.
• Be cautious with unusually high-value transactions.

Users can report:

• Suspicious accounts;
• Unsafe behavior;
• Illegal listings;
• Fraud attempts;
• Harassment;
• Prohibited items;
• Misleading information.

When reporting, provide as much detail as possible, including:

• Username;
• Listing information;
• Description of the concern;
• Supporting evidence if available.

TheYardMap may investigate reports and take actions including:

• Removing content;
• Restricting accounts;
• Suspending users;
• Permanently banning accounts.

TheYardMap is not an emergency service.

If you experience:

• Immediate danger;
• Threats of violence;
• Theft in progress;
• Medical emergencies;
• Criminal activity;

Garage sales can affect surrounding communities.

Hosts should:

• Follow local regulations;
• Respect neighbors;
• Avoid blocking roads or sidewalks;
• Maintain reasonable noise levels;
• Clean up after the event.

Visitors should:

• Park responsibly;
• Avoid blocking driveways;
• Respect residential areas.

While TheYardMap works to create a safer community, users acknowledge that:

• We cannot verify every user;
• We cannot guarantee user behavior;
• We cannot inspect listings or items;
• We cannot guarantee the safety of in-person interactions;
• We are not responsible for losses, damages, theft, injuries, disputes, or incidents occurring between users.

Users participate voluntarily and assume responsibility for their own decisions.

TheYardMap reserves the right to take action against accounts that:

• Threaten user safety;
• Post prohibited content;
• Engage in fraud;
• Harass others;
• Violate these Safety Guidelines or Terms of Service.

Actions may include warnings, removal of content, suspension, or permanent account termination.
